Which are you speaking? Which are you believing? Proverbs 18:21 says that life and death are in the power of the tongue.
Words of fear or words of faith — one ministers death the other ministers life. Fear and faith are on the opposite spectrum of the pole but they both have power. The choice is ours which we speak and which we believe.
Words of fear will paralyze faith and vice versa. But, like I said, we have the choice which one we are going to speak. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Did you know fear comes by hearing and hearing the lies of the enemy? Anything that does not line up with the truth of God’s Word is a lie and if you believe those lies, fear will take you over and paralyze your faith. The only thing that refutes those lies are speaking God’s truths and what He says in any given situation.
Jesus tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. When we are in faith, we are speaking words of truth and those words will produce what we are saying with our mouth and believing in our heart. Luke 6:45 says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The enemy has weapons that he wants to form against you but you must speak against them and condemn them with your mouth. We condemn them with truth. It tells us in I John 5:4 that whatever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith. So speaking words of faith will condemn (make null and void) words of lies and fear.
An example in Mark 10:47-48 is about blind Bartimaeus and how he got fed up with the enemy’s lies. The enemy used people’s tongues against him telling him to be quiet because he was calling out to Jesus to have mercy on him and heal his sight. He kept being persistent with the Word of God and it stopped the lies of the enemy. The Lord heard his cries of faith and healed him and he immediately received his sight. This is a great lesson in faith over fear and being persistent in speaking truth to get results.
Fear produces torment but faith produces life and peace. Isaiah 26:3 says that God will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him because he trusts in Him. Whichever words you agree with will be the results that manifest in your life.
With so much evil going on in our world today, it’s imperative to keep our heart and mind stayed on the things of God. John 10:10 is a powerful scripture that shows us good and evil and nothing in between. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have life more abundantly. The thief (the devil) has only bad but Jesus only has good. If it’s not good, it’s not God. And every plan that the enemy has devised for our lives, we can cancel and render ineffective by words of faith that agree with scripture and God’s plan for us.
Jeremiah 29:11 – God says He knows the plans He has for us. Plans to do us good and not evil. Plans to give us a hope and a future. So start declaring that over your life. You don’t have to accept the plans that people on the news are saying for your life. Their tongue is being empowered by the devil to put you in fear. Condemn those lies with words of truth and faith and watch and see the power of God come through in mighty ways that even their mouths will drop and they will be confounded and ashamed.
In closing, I will leave you with Deuteronomy 30:19-20: “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and they seed may live. That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
