Today is a brand new day and you can start afresh this day. What good news that is!! It can be a new beginning for you. Yesterday is gone and past. Today is the start of a new beginning. It says in II Corinthians 6:2 that today is the day of salvation. It is the day of whatever it is you need for your life. Jesus overcame every hinderance and obstacle that is in your way and the victory for you to overcome is your faith mixed with the gospel – the power of God – the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What a blessing it is to know that every morning we wake up, we have a choice as to how this day will go. But it depends on US! We can have a grateful heart and be thankful that we have breath and are alive because in Him (in Jesus) we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). But let’s read verse 27 which says, ….”That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us.” God is closer to you than you may think or even feel; His Word is true and He cannot lie. He is right there with you and He said He will never leave you nor forsake you. If you cannot think of anything else to be thankful for, start with that promise and hold it close to your heart and begin this day by thanking Him and praising Him for His goodness!
Did you know that whatever we put our focus on is what will grow and be magnified? If our focus is on how bad it is, how miserable we are, how hopeless our life seems, then that’s what we will have. And it will probably only get worse. But if we change that focus on how good our God is, and how thankful we are to Him (in the midst of how bad it may look or even be!), we will see His power manifest in our hearts and lives in a mighty way like we’ve never seen. And our lives can then only get better and better each day.
I learned this years ago after reading it in the Word that thanksgiving causes God’s grace to abound in our lives. Having a thankful heart will produce joy unspeakable and it will be full of glory. It will produce peace like a river and a peace that surpasses all understanding. In other words, you can have peace in the midst of the storm, which makes no sense to the natural understanding.
The promises that God has given to us in His Word are all yes and amen to the glory of God. Every single promise in the Word of God is yours, if you are born again. But it’s like someone giving you a gift and you never open that gift. It’s always right there in front of you but you never reach out to receive it and open it to see what it holds. That may be like what the Bible is to you – it’s right there in front of you with all of these promises, but you never take the time to open it and see all the blessings that God has for you. And the first gift He has for a person is to be born again – receive Jesus into your heart by confessing Him Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. This is the beginning of a new life filled with blessings and hope!
Whatever has happened in your past, is just that – it’s in the past. And yes, we have to deal with things in our past as the Spirit of God brings them up so that they will not affect us or hinder things presently in our lives or what God has for our future. My husband and I just walked through a very difficult trial regarding how something spoken to him 15-20 years ago (evil words) were still in effect over his life. BUT GOD in His great mercy led us through this situation to overcome and cancel those words. Words have power! Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Prov. 18:21). God’s grace, though, is always sufficient to overcome any and every situation. And if we are not overcoming (gaining the victory), then we are being overcome. What looked like a situation where we were being overcome, the wisdom of God led us to overcome and gain the victory. Praise God!
Today is a new day. It is a new beginning. So make the choice to be an overcomer and to be more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ over things in your life that have held you back. Take the Word of God and what it says about your situation over what you see, feel, think or believe. This is a walk of faith, not what we see that is in the natural. But things in the natural will start to change when we walk by faith and trust God.
I pray that today will be a day of searching your heart to see where you stand in faith. Are you believing and receiving all that Jesus has already provided for you which is a more abundant life (John 10:10)? As long as you have breath, it’s never to late to begin afresh today!
